BURTON’S SEASON ENDS WITH A 21-7 LOSS TO GRANGER

It will not be a deep playoff run for the Burton Panther Football Team this season as they fell to the Granger Lions 21-7 last (Thursday) night in Rockdale.

Granger jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the Bi-District game. The Lions had a 98-yard kickoff return for their first score. They would score again on a two-yard run.

Burton managed to cut the lead in half in the second quarter as Tyrone Gilmon picked up a fumble and ran it back 39 yards for a touchdown to make it 14-7.

That would turn out to be Burton's only touchdown of the night.

Granger scored again in the fourth quarter on a 34 yard touchdown pass to make it 21-7, and that would be all that they needed.

Burton was plagued by the turnover bug all night. They lost five fumbles and threw an interception.

The Panthers finish the season with a 6-5 record, while Granger improved to 9-2.

It was also the final game for Burton seniors Austin Gutierrez, Chad Schubert, Andre Ortiz, Colby Beck, Trinity Pope, Tyrone Gilmon, Zane Aschenbeck, Grayson Brown, and Keagan Fenner.
