CUBS RALLY TO UPSET LAKE CREEK 87-71

It was a big night for the Brenham Cub Basketball Team on Friday night as they upset co-district front runner Lake Creek 87-71 at the Brenham High School Gym.

Lake Creek got off to a fast start and led the game 16-11 after the first quarter.

They would then outscore the Cubs 24-18 in the second quarter, and take a 40-29 lead into the locker room at half time.

The second half would completely belong to Brenham.

The Cubs won the third quarter 33-17, and took a 62-57 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Brenham kept up the pressure and outscored the Lions 25-14 over the final eight minutes to seal the blowout win.

Elijah Ferguson led the Cubs with 33 points, while Issac Powell added 21 points.

Jayden Hebert came off the bench with nine points. After being shutout in the first half, JaKobe Mathis came back with eight points in the second half.

The win snaps a four game losing streak for Brenham and also moves them into a three way tie for the fourth playoff spot in the district with five games remaining in the regular season.

Next up, they will travel to Montgomery on Tuesday for a 6:30pm game.
