CUBS OPEN SEASON WITH 4-2 LOSS TO FRIENDSWOOD
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team opened the season with a 4-2 loss on the road to the Friendswood Mustangs on Monday night.
The game was scoreless going into the bottom of the second when the Mustangs pieced together a string of four singles and a sacrifice fly to take an early 3-0 lead.
Brenham got on the scoreboard in the top of the third. Tanner Reese led it off with a single, and Caleb Maurer courtesy ran for him. Owen Finke reached on a walk, and Brady Rau was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Barrett Kohring followed with a two-run single that scored Maurer and Finke to cut the lead to 3-2.
Friendswood scored one more insurance run in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 4-2.
Dawson Keim took the tough luck loss on the hill. He pitched all six innings, allowing four runs, nine hits, one walk, and striking out two.

The Cubs will be at the Santa Fe Tournament Thursday thru Saturday. They will open on Thursday with Brazoswood at 2pm, followed by Pearland Dawson at 4pm.
