A&M CONSOLIDATED BEATS CUBS 6-1 AT FIREMAN’S

It was a new opponent, but unfortunately the same results for the Brenham Cub Baseball Team as they lost to the A&M Consolidated Tigers 6-1 last (Tuesday) night at Fireman's Park.

The Cubs actually got on the board first. In the bottom of the third inning, Caleb Maurer drew a one-out walk. Tiger pitcher Owen Horrell overthrew first base on a pick-off attempt, which allowed Maurer to get all the way to third.

Barrett Kohring drew a walk as well. Maurer and Kohring then pulled off a successful double steal (Maurer scoring and Kohring in to second) to give Brenham their first and what would turn out to be their only lead 1-0.

A&M Consolidated came back with three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead.

The Tigers later expanded the lead with one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to make it 6-1.

The Cubs managed only two hits in the game, a single by Luke Hardy and a bunt single by Caleb Maurer.

Brody Hemann pitched the first five innings, and took the loss. Luke Hardy worked the last two innings in relief.

Brenham also committed five errors in the field, which helped to lead to the Tiger runs.

The series now shifts to A&M Consolidated High School in College Station for the next game on Friday night at 7pm.
