BRENHAM WOMAN TURNS 100
Brenham is home to the newest member of the centenarian club.

Cleo Jones Daniels at the city council's meeting on

Wednesday.
During today’s (Thursday) Brenham City Council meeting, Mayor Atwood Kenjura read a proclamation to honor Cleo Jones Daniels, who celebrated turning 100 years young on Wednesday. The proclamation declared Wednesday, April 3rd as Cleo Jones Daniels Day.
Daniels, surrounded by family members and loved ones, said she is grateful to be here with them today.
Daniels has been a member of the community since 1942. She married Calvin Daniels the same year and raised seven children.

The proclamation read that Daniels “has consistently shown her unwavering commitment to the welfare of others, earning the admiration and affection of people from diverse backgrounds and age groups.” It also read, “The City of Brenham recognizes Mrs. Cleo Daniels for her 100 years, her positive impact on the community, and the love and wisdom she has shared with all those fortunate enough to know her.”
Per the United Nations’ population estimates for 2024, as compiled by the Pew Research Center, there are approximately 722,000 people ages 100 and up around the world, including roughly 108,000 in the United States.
