18-WHEELER CRASH AT DPS OFFICE IN BRENHAM

Washington County Emergency Crews are at the scene an emergency situation.

Around 11am, reports came in of an 18-Wheeler that crashed into the Texas DPS Office, which is located on the Highway 290 Feeder Road.

The crash caused several people to be trapped inside the building.

Nine people are reported injured. Three are said to be in critical condition.

EMS helicopters are at the scene.

Melinda Gordon with the City of Brenham said that work crews have shutoff utilities to the DPS Building as a precaution.

Motorists are asked please avoid the area if at all possible.

4/12/24, 12:15pm Update:

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the suspect stole a truck in Chappell Hill, and went to the DPS Office on purpose, because they denied his CDL license on Thursday.

Deputies and state troopers were pursuing the 18-wheeler when he drove it through the front of the building. As he was backing the truck out, authorities pulled him out of the vent window and arrested him.

4/12/24, 12:30pm Update:

KWHI News has now confirmed that at least 10 people are confirmed injured. Three are said to be in critical condition, while seven have reported minor injuries.

    There are precious people who work there as well as being a busy DPS office.
    Prayers for medical teams tending to all.

    1. Praying for all involved 🙏. This is a prime example of the mental health issues I’m always taking about. Get there people some help. They need to be in some kind of program to which or class every 30days or so
