BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO REVIEW SUPT. APPLICATIONS

Burton ISD trustees will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) to go over applications received for the district’s superintendent position.

The board will hold an executive session where it will evaluate and screen candidate applications for the role of superintendent.

The search follows the retirement last month of previous superintendent, Dr. Edna Kennedy.  Board members agreed on March 19th to engage with Powell Law Group to conduct the search for a new superintendent.  Dr. Rob Barnwell, a retired superintendent from Jefferson ISD, is leading Burton ISD in the interim.

At the time Powell Law Group was hired, Dr. Danny Lovett, a consultant and senior public policy advisor with the firm, told trustees that the most condensed timeline would have interviews starting on April 30th and a lone finalist named on May 10th, before the chosen candidate formally starts on June 3rd.  That timeline, however, could vary due to the school board election happening this Saturday.

The board will meet tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the Burton ISD Administration Office.
