FLORIDA WOMAN ARRESTED IN AUSTIN COUNTY ON MULTIPLE CHARGES
A woman on the run from authorities in Florida was finally caught after trying to pass a bad check in Austin County.
On Tuesday, Bellville Police were dispatched to the First National Bank of Bellville to investigate a report of a woman trying to pass a fraudulent check.
The suspect left the bank before the police arrived, but they later caught up to her vehicle on FM 1456 traveling towards Buckhorn.
Officers attempted to get the vehicle to pull over, but the driver refused, and began throwing what later turned out to be checks out of the window. An Austin County Sheriff’s Deputy helped to finally pull the vehicle over on Jackson Road.
The driver, who was identified as 58-year-old Michele Rene Bryan of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of crack cocaine, as well as, both the liquid and powder forms of Fentanyl.
According to the Bellville Police, Bryan had allegedly stolen $3,200 from an account using a stolen I.D. and a stolen debit/credit card. She also attempted to cash another check in the amount of $2,679 that was in a different name.
Plus, she tried to cash another check for $2,896 that was caught by the bank before going through. Bryan is also wanted in Florida for multiple charges. She was arrested and taken to the Austin County Jail.
Bryan’s Austin County charges include: Evading Arrest/Detention, Tampering with Physical Evidence, one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance Greater than 4 Grams but less than 200 Grams, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance Greater than 1 Gram but less than 4 Grams, three counts of Forgery Checks/Financial Instruments, Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information Greater than 5 Items but Less than 10 Items, and Failure to Identify as a Fugitive.
