Hundreds of people came to the Cannery Kitchen in Brenham for a Thanksgiving lunch.  Many meals were also delivered to seniors and homebound residents.

Faith Mission board member and Thanksgiving meal coordinator Dr. Heather Thielemann says a total of 660 meals were served, with 390 of those meals delivered by volunteers directly into the community.  Approximately 132 volunteers took on various roles during the event, including cooking, serving meals, preparing delivery plates, cutting pie, and cleaning in the kitchen.

Dr. Thielemann thanks Tara and Rick Steele and their team at Gather ‘N Grace for helping to prepare food, as well as the Brenham High School Theater Department for their contribution of snack bags included with meals that were delivered.  She says, “This annual event not only provides nourishment but also fosters a sense of community and togetherness.”

Faith Mission Operations Director Lawrence Greer says it was “a wonderful time of fellowship for all who attended, or were attended to.”  He thanks the multitude of volunteers, saying, “We have entire families who have made it a Thanksgiving tradition to volunteer every year, and I love that.”

Greer also thanks Gather ‘N Grace for their assistance with the event, saying their contributions “helped make this year’s community meal one for the books.”
