MEGAN WHALEN NO LONGER CUBETTE HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH

For the second time in four years, Brenham High School is looking for someone to take the helm of the Cubette Volleyball program.

KWHI Sports has confirmed that Megan Whalen is no longer the Head Volleyball Coach of the Cubettes.

Athletic Director Danny Youngs and Whalen herself said that while she will not be coaching next season, she is still employed as a science teacher at Brenham High School.

Whalen is planning on continuing to teach, but said that her main focus right now is going to be on prioritizing her family.

Whalen had been the Head Coach for the Cubette Volleyball Team for the past four seasons.

During that time, she compiled a record of 123 wins to just 67 losses. In her first season at the helm, Brenham won the district championship and made it to the Region Finals.

In her second year, they finished second in district, and went three rounds deep in the playoffs.

However, the Cubettes, have missed the playoffs over the past two seasons.

Prior to being a head coach, she was an assistant volleyball coach under former long-time Head Coach Debbie Yeager, and an assistant softball coach under current Head Coach Katie Roberts.

Whalen has not ruled out a return to coaching down the road. She also has a Master’s Degree in Education Administration, and would be open to opportunities in the future if the right one presented itself.

However, right now, the title that she’s most interested in is Mom.
