WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS AWARD FOOD SERVICES CONTRACT TO TRINITY SERVICES GROUP
Washington County Commissioners have decided on a food provider for services at the county jail.
Commissioners at their meeting today (Tuesday) awarded a contract to Trinity Services Group, effective August 18th. Sheriff’s Captain Eric Hensley said this decision came after multiple readings of requests for proposals (RFP).
Commissioner Joy Fuchs said the county has had issues with the other bidder, Aramark, in the past, with the special needs of diabetics not being addressed correctly. Commissioner Candace Bullock added that colleagues have referred Trinity Services Group, and past issues with Aramark led the court to this decision.
Cpt. Hensley said he will be “diligently” watching over Trinity Services Group to make sure they stand with the RFP and follow through with the menus and everything else that is provided.
During the monthly Sheriff’s report, County Judge John Durrenberger commented on June only having one reported burglary, bringing the total for the year to 16. He said that is “an outstanding feat”, with Sheriff Otto Hanak responding it’s “unheard of”. Sheriff Hanak also commented on the dropping numbers of livestock calls, going from a high of 139 in March to just 41 in June.
Hanak also announced the Sheriff’s Office has started a painting project in the female section of the county jail, to allow inmates and supervisors to repaint the cells in that part of the jail. Hanak said they haven’t been painted in the last 12 to 14 years. He said the office is working on coming up with ideas to reduce the slickness of the floors due to the humidity. He said, overall, no can complain about the county jail being dirty.
During the Road and Bridge Department report, County Engineer Ross McCall announced construction began this morning for the Rehburg Road Bridge at Rocky Creek. He said construction and bridge cure time will last approximately one month.
Commissioners also:
- Approved formal notice from GeoSouthern Chalk II for a temporary above-ground fresh water line. The line will be laid within county right-of-way on Ganske Road, Helm Road, Maass Road and Zibilski Road in Precinct Three, as well as Old Mill Creek Road and Hohenwalde School Road in Precinct Four.
- Heard reports from EMS, Information Technology and the Veterans Service Officer.
