SEVERAL GRIMES CO. EMPLOYEES, COUNTY JUDGE IN SELF-QUARANTINE AFTER EMPLOYEE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19
Several Grimes County employees and officials, including the county judge, are in the midst of a 14-day self-quarantine, following announcements that a county employee and the wife of another employee tested positive for COVID-19.
County Judge Joe Fauth said the 14-day quarantine period began March 31st for him and other county employees who had possible contact with affected personnel. The close contacts were recommended to self-quarantine by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
The Grimes County Courthouse has also been closed through the self-quarantine period, which lasts through April 14th.
Fauth said the employee who tested positive is an out-of-county resident. KBTX-TV in Bryan reported the employee whose wife tested positive lives in Washington County.
Tuesday, the Grimes County Office of Emergency Management confirmed the county’s fourth case of COVID-19 in a woman in her 50s. No other information on her case was released, although it is not considered a community spread-related case.
The Texas Department of State Health Services has also confirmed that the first three confirmed cases in Grimes County, all county residents in their 50s and 60s who contracted the virus while traveling outside the county, have recovered.
