The long time City Manager for the City of La Grange has announced plans to retire later this year.

Shawn Raborn informed the La Grange City Council and city staff members this week that he plans to retire from the job he has held for the last 29 years in September.

Raborn called working for the city and with his co-workers all those years as a “true gift.”

He thanked all the mayors and council members that he worked for, as well as the staff for their support adding that they are like his extended family.

Raborn has not decided on what his next move will be, but that he and his wife are planning to remain in La Grange, which they consider to be their home.

The focus will now shift to the mayor and city council as to what route they choose to go to fill the position.
