Emily Vermeulen

Hempstead ISD has named Emily Vermeulen as their new Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.

According to Hempstead ISD, Vermeulen brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education that will benefit the students and staff.

Her career in education began as a math teacher for middle and high school students. She then went on to serve as an Instructional Design Facilitator in Garland ISD. Vermeulen worked collaboratively with principals and teachers to enhance teaching practices and create enriching learning experiences for students.

Recognizing her leadership potential, Vermeulen took on the role of assistant principal at O'Banion Middle School in Garland, where she utilized her teaching experience to connect with students and foster positive change within the school community.

Next, Vermeulen became a registrar in the Mesquite ISD. In this capacity, she worked closely with advanced academics, teaching and learning, and oversaw the master schedule to ensure that all students had equal access to post-high school opportunities.
