BRENHAM GAMECHANGERS BREAKS FUNDRAISING RECORD AT ‘PURSE BINGO’
The Brenham GameChangers enjoyed their most successful “Purse Bingo” fundraiser ever on Thursday.
Approximately 782 people filled Silver Wings Ballroom to play Bingo games for designer purses, take part in a bucket drawing and win door prizes.
According to Brenham GameChangers Board Treasurer Chris Cangelosi, the event netted $70,800 in income, a record year. He said this year’s number could still go higher, as there is revenue still to be counted from drawings going on through today (Friday).
The organization offers activity scholarships to help local youth participate in activities like sports, music, art and dance. It also provides etiquette lunches and mock interviews for high school students, supports Faith Mission’s SMART Kids program and coordinates a summer school supply drive.
Brenham GameChangers Board President Dr. Heather Thielemann says the organization awarded $49,000 in scholarships over the past year and has given out $168,000 in scholarships since 2018.
Dr. Thielemann says Brenham GameChangers’ main focus is to meet people where they are, using everyone’s strengths in order to accomplish great things.
