BURTON COTTON GIN FESTIVAL TO BE HELD APRIL 26
The 36th Annual Burton Cotton Gin Festival is coming up later this month.
The Cotton Gin Festival is going to be held on Saturday, April 26, from 10am-6pm at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum in Burton.
The day begins with the Festival Parade, which includes the Children’s Bicycle Parade, down Main Street in Burton at 10am.
That will be followed at 11am with a birthday party for the “Lady B” Bessimer Engine, which powers the Burton Farmers Gin. The Lady B is turning 100 years old this year.
Other activities starting at 11am include gin tours, a classic car display, butter churning, spoon carving, blacksmithing, the Antique Engine and Tractor Show, Arts & Crafts, and food vendors.
The afternoon events begin with the tractor pull at noon, followed by a pie eating contest, a seed pulling contest, and a chorus contest.
The Festival also features live music from the Czechaholics from 2:30-4pm, as well as Slim Bawb and the Stumpgrinders from 4-6pm.
The afternoon is highlighted at 3pm by firing up the 111-year-old Burton Cotton Gin, and having it gin historic cotton bales.
Admission to the Burton Cotton Gin Festival is free of charge.
KTEX 106 is a sponsor of the event. Look for Ryan Stone out there broadcasting live in the KTEX Country Cruiser.
