BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER ADOPTING BUDGET, TAX RATE
The Burton School Board will meet Monday to vote on adopting the budget and tax rate for the 2026-27 school year.
The total proposed budget sits at $15,020,262, above the currently adopted budget of $14,555,785. The budget includes increases for instruction, general administration and debt service payments, but reduces what Burton ISD is projected to pay in recapture to the state.
The proposed tax rate of $0.777447 per $100 valuation is below the existing tax rate of $0.8047. It consists of $0.6128 for maintenance and operations (M&O) and $0.164647 for interest and sinking (I&S).
Adoption of the budget and tax rate will follow a public hearing for comments.
Other business for trustees on Monday will include possible approval of amendments to the supplemental pay schedule, amendments for the 2025-26 budget, and discussion on facility improvements.
The board will meet Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Burton ISD Cafeteria.
