Administration will consider awarding a contract to Collier Construction for $1,278,310. Collier Construction’s bid was the lowest out of the five contractors that submitted proposals for the project.

The planned complex includes a 6,000 square-foot building, housing a livestock demonstration room, farrowing house, tack room, livestock pens, preparation room, and a covered pavilion. Blinn is intending to use part of the roughly 44 acres it owns south of Old Mill Creek Road.

The contract includes the base bid of $1,164,260, along with three alternate bids that provide features such as two additional bays of covered pavilion space; 10,000 square feet of 2-inch thick gravel surrounding the paved parking area; and the use of Type 2 fencing.

The board will also look to advertise proposals for furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the new building. Funds for the project are available in the 2016 series bond funds.

The board will also swear in the newly elected and re-elected board members. Oaths will be administered to Charles Moser, Jim Kolkhorst, and Dennis Crowson, representing At-Large Positions 1, 2, and 3 respectively.  Each elected position will serve a six-year term.  Following that, board officers will be elected for two-year terms.

The board will meet Tuesday afternoon at 6 p.m., in the Brenham Campus Administration Building.
