Blinn women’s soccer earns win with 2-0 shutout of Paris

BRENHAM, Texas — On Sunday afternoon at Rankin Field, second-half goals from freshman forward Kaley Kasper helped lead Blinn College women’s soccer (3-4, 2-3) past Paris, 2-0.

“It was a great bounce-back victory and we created a lot of chances which was nice to see,” said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. “We played with a lot of intensity in a positive environment, so I am thrilled.”

Kasper led the Buccaneers with 12 shots and two goals, while Illora Molina and Carla Garcia each recorded an assist. Bethany Sorenson recorded four shots and three shots on goal.

On defense, Hope Hillhouse led Blinn to a shutout with three saves.

Blinn and Paris both used a strong defense to keep the game scoreless in the first half. The breakthrough finally came at the 55th minute as Molina began the scoring play and Kasper finished it for Blinn to lead 1-0. In the 62nd minute, Garcia assisted Kasper in Blinn’s final goal.

Next, the Buccaneers will compete against No. 9 Navarro College on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m.

Blinn men’s soccer outlasts Paris, 5-3

Buccaneers finish week with perfect 3-0 record

BRENHAM, Texas — On Sunday afternoon at Rankin Field, the Blinn College men’s soccer team (5-2, 4-1) fought off Paris Junior College to earn a conference win, 5-3.

“It was an unbelievable game and I was really pleased with how the men overcame the adversity in the first half with a really solid performance in the second half,” said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. “I couldn’t be happier with the win and how we came back.”

Derek Norsworthy and Farit Ha led Blinn with two goals apiece, while Stefan Fevrier Sildor scored one. Coleman Hatfield, Jacob Farrington and Brook Williams each recorded an assist in the win.

On defense, JT McCoy recorded eight saves for the Buccaneers.

Blinn managed the first goal of the contest in the first minute as Hatfield handed the ball off for Norsworthy to score. Paris scored the next two goals in the 16th and 30th minutes to lead 2-1 at the half.

Blinn came out of the half and quickly scored in the 45th minute as Farrington assisted Ha on the goal. Ha assisted Norsworthy in Blinn’s next goal for the Buccaneers to lead 3-2 in the 49th minute. The Buccaneers took a 4-2 lead when Ha scored on a penalty kick.

Paris worked its way back into the game by scoring in the 57th minute to trail 4-3. However, Blinn kept Paris off the board for the remainder of the game. Williams assisted Fevrier Sildor in scoring Blinn’s final goal in the 68th minute.

Next, Blinn will host Laredo College at Rankin Field on Friday, Sept. 20, at 5 p.m.
