BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO AGAIN TAKE UP LAWN MAINTENANCE ORDINANCE, APPOINT MAYOR PRO-TEM, MUNICIPAL JUDGE

The Burton City Council will meet this (Tuesday) afternoon to revisit the oft-discussed lawn maintenance ordinance agenda item.

The ordinance, which would encourage lawn maintenance for the cutting of grass that becomes a nuisance and provide enforcement measures, has been tabled the last three times it has been discussed by councilmembers.  The council last tabled the item in March to consider establishing a fine for violators.

Also at today’s meeting, the council will consider appointing a mayor pro-tem and municipal court judge.  Currently, councilmember Jeff Eckhardt is serving as the mayor pro-tem, while City Secretary Angela Harrington is serving as the municipal judge.

Councilmembers will also consider a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign and execute a division order regarding the Hielscher 1H well with GeoSouthern Operating II, LLC.  The city is being offered a decimal interest, and a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute the division order is required.  The council will then act on accepting the audit of seizure funds as required by the code of criminal procedure.

The council will meet this afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.  Due to limited space at the city hall for social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, public access to the meeting will be limited to conference call.

To join the meeting, call 720-902-7700, and use meeting ID 1497529906#.

  1. What about the peacocks? Is there only one in burton now Was they there this morning and only one a the bank

  2. Let’s get the streets repaved rather than worry about the height of lawns.

    1. I agree. Please focus on maintaining water supply, sewage treatment, & addressing street issues. “Yard police” are a distinct overreach in my opinion.
