(Brazos Co. Jail)

According to the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office, 40-year-old Buddy Perez was accused of burglarizing a home in the 5100 block of West 28th Street in Bryan in June of 2018.  A 17-year-old resident and her younger sister hid in their bedroom, and had called 911 to report Perez forcing entry into the home before he entered their room.

When Perez discovered the girls, he fled the house, but not before they relayed a description of him, his vehicle’s license plate number, and direction of travel to 911.

Perez led Brazos County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase before they blocked the road and stopped him from driving any further.  Authorities said they located jewelry stolen from the victim’s home inside his pockets.

The Brazos County District Attorney’s Office said Perez’s punishment was enhanced due to his lengthy criminal history.  Perez has previously been convicted for Assault Family Violence, Criminal Trespass, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Driving While Intoxicated, Fraudulent Possession of Identifying Information, and three separate Burglary of a Habitation charges.
