COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC MARKS 1000TH PATIENT

The Washington County Community Health Clinic, operated by Baylor Scott and White, has marked a milestone.  The clinic has seen its 1000th patient.

The clinic commemorated the event with an internal celebration at their location on Chappell Hill St., in the former Brenham police station.  The honored patient, William Jones, was the guest of honor.

The clinic was originally an association between Washington County, Faith Mission and Trinity Medical Center, when it opened in 2011.

Baylor Scott & White Hospital-Brenham has since taken over the hospital role.

Baylor Scott & White vice president of operations Jack O’Hearn, says the success of the clinic is a testament to entities working together.

O’Hearn says the staff at the clinic “has done really amazing work”, keeping the patients “first and foremost.”

Services at the Community Clinic are free, but patients must be a Washington County resident, whose income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level and that they have no insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid.

The clinic provides a variety of services, including basic primary care and managing chronic diseases like high blood pressure or diabetes.
