CONVICTED KILLER EDWARD BELL DIES IN NAVASOTA PRISON

A convicted killer residing in a Navasota prison has died.

Edward Bell

Edward Bell died Saturday morning after collapsing at the Wallace Pack Unit, a prison that houses many elderly prisoners.  He was 82-years old.

Bell was serving a 70-year prison sentence for the 1978 killing of Larry Dickens.  He was sentenced in 1993.  However, many believe he is linked to the deaths of eleven girls over the years, whose bodies have been found in what is known as “the Killing Fields” off of I-45.

Bell was never prosecuted for any other murder besides Dickens, but he admitted to sending letters to Galveston and Harris County prosecutors in which he confessed to the murders of the “Eleven that went to Heaven”.  Investigators never found enough evidence to charge Bell for any of the deaths.

A spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice confirmed the custody death Saturday, and said it is under investigation by the Independent Office of the Inspector General.
