FESTIVAL HILL TO HOST PATRIOTIC CONCERT ON JULY 2ND

ย ย

Festival Hill is inviting folks to join them this Sunday, July 2, at 3:00 PM for the popular Patriotic Concert. They encourage folks to make the impressive lineup of music a part of the holiday weekend celebration in observance of American Independence Day.

This Sunday's program is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. It begins with a robust rendering of the United States national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, followed by Gershwin's first work on the program. An American in Paris is a jazz-influenced orchestral piece inspired by the composer's time he had spent in Paris.

Pianist James Dick, founder and artistic director of Round Top Festival Institute, will join Maestro Dinur and the Texas Festival Orchestra to perform the first movement of Gershwin's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in F, Allegro. The always popular big band sound of Joe Garland's In the Mood is also on the program.

Festival Hill welcomes guests as they salute our veterans and active military with the popular Armed Forces Salute, arranged by Bob Lowden. Give tribute to our service men and women as all branches of the military take turns to stand and be recognized.

The program includes a few pleasant surprises and concludes with Sousa's The Thunderer and Stars and Stripes Forever. After the concert, join friends and fellow concertgoers on the west side of the concert hall for Blue Bell ice cream, courtesy of Blue Bell Creameries, Brenham, underwriter of this annual popular event.

Purchase your tickets now as this concert generally sells out. Tickets will be held at will call on the west side of the concert hall. Doors open at 1:30 PM.
