SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR CITY–SLIGHTLY DOWN FOR COUNTY

  

The monthly rebate on state sales taxes in Washington County saw a slight drop in October.

The rebate for the month is $237,707, which is down one half-percent from the same time last year.

The total rebates for 2019, are still running well ahead of the same time last year.  So far, the county has received $2,660,349—an increase of 8.2-percent.

The rebates for the cities of Brenham and Burton both showed increases.

Brenham’s rebate this month totaled $544,234, an increase of 1.5% from last year.

So far this year, Brenham’s rebates are up 8% from last year to $5,801,286.

Burton received $7,453, up 43.3% from last year.  For the year, Burton’s payments total $69,133, up 13.9 percent.
