TLU WINS NATIONAL SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP–HAS BRENHAM FLAIR

Three former Brenham Cubettes celebrated a national championship, Monday.

The Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs defeated Emory College, 6-1, to sweep the NCAA Division III National Championship, 2-0.  TLU downed Emory, 12-4, in Saturday’s opener.

Former Cubette standout, Kelly Jurden was 2-4 in the finals, scoring three runs in the two games.

For the tourney, Jurden, the conference player of the year, was 5-for-15, with four runs scored and three runs batted in.

Texas Lutheran’s head coach is Wade Wilson, who led Brenham to the 2005 UIL State Softball Championship.

One of the Bulldogs’ assistant coaches is Olivia Van Hook, a former All-District outfielder for the Cubettes.
