BUCS FOOTBALL TEAM GETS ANNUAL TASTE OF MARINE TRAINING

The Blinn Buccaneers got their annual taste of Marine-style boot camp Monday afternoon.

For the fifth consecutive year, members of the U.S. Marine Corps put the Bucs football team through team-building exercises at Spencer Stadium.

The Bucs’ workout included such exercises as carrying teammates across the field on their backs, lifting and carrying heavy ammo canisters and lots of running – all designed by the U.S. Marine Corps.

The training visit by the Marines was begun by then head coach Ronnie Feldman, continued by Coach Keith Thomas and resumed this year by new head coach Ryan Mahon.

Mahon says it’s a great way to build team chemistry and give the players a unique perspective.

The Bucs open practices Monday on the Blinn campus.

The Bucs’ season opener is Saturday, August 27th at Texas A&T in Santa Fe.

The home opener is Saturday, September 3rd against Cisco on KWHI and kwhi.com.
