RIBBON CUT TO OFFICIALLY OPEN THE BARNHILL CENTER
The ribbon cutting and public grand opening for the new Barnhill Center was held Thursday afternoon. Hal Moorman, president of Brenham Main Street Historical Preservation cut the ribbon from the stage in the restored theatre. The group help raise the funds necessary for the project, and continues to look for donors to finish out the adjacent building to add more space to the center.
Fundraising began over 10 years ago with the Save Our Simon effort. Moorman recognized the many people involved in the construction project. The large crowd on hand for the ribbon cutting took time to walk through and view the building afterwards. The locally produced movie The Dawn of Washington County was shown in the Hasskarl Auditorium at 5:30. Beautiful restoration for this city. Will be a site for more wonderful memories in our future. Thanks to all the families and individuals that donated and planned this project. But would it not be the right to let the city and county taxpayers know that they too, contributed to the Save The Simon ? Why would they be denied their portion of civic pride?
