WASHINGTON COUNTY LADY LIONS AWARDED 10 MAJOR AWARDS

  

Washington County’s Lady Lions were recognized with distinguished with major awards during their most recent meeting on Monday.

These included 5 Melvin Jones Fellowship Awards, and 5 Jack Wiech Fellowship Awards.

Past Lions International Director and current Texas LCI Ambassador Jo Al Picone handed out the prestigious awards. Picon said "there may have been 5 MJF awarded in one club at one time- but that would be rare."

The five Melvin Jones Fellowships from Lions Clubs International were presented to Debra Leroy Wenckens, LaVerne Krumrey, Pat Lueckemeyer, Deloris Draehn and Lori Balusek.

The club donated $5,000 to Lions Club international Measles project. This donation, matched by the Gates Foundation will save 10,000 lives.

This donation qualified the club for the five MJF awards to the top sellers of the fundraiser for the last two years.

Then five Jack Wiech Fellowships were awarded from Texas Lion Camp. The $5,000 donated from the first fundraiser calendar to the TLC made the 5 Wiech Fellowships possible to the top sellers.

Those ladies include Debra Leroy Wenckens, LaVerne Krumrey, Linda Jensen Oberhoff, Pat Lueckemeyer & Jeanne Luedemann.

Each received the crystal award and pins from Picone. Picone praised the club for their dedication in funding these and other missions.
