COUNTY COMMISSIONERS APPROVE ROAD CLOSURES FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY
The Washington County Commissioners approved of closing several county roads in the Independence area for the Independence Day parade on July 4th.
The commissioners approved closing Lueckemeyer Road from FM 390 to its intersection of TS Saul road from 2:00pm to 11:00pm on July 4th. Also approved for closing from 2:00pm to 6:00pm: Lueckemeyer Road from FM 50 to FM 390, Hood Hotel Road from Lueckemeyer to FM 390, TS Saul Road from Lueckemeyer Road to FM 390, and Sam Houston Road from FM 50 south for about a half mile.
A final plat for Greenvine Acres subdivision on FM 2502 and M&S Lane in precinct 4 was approved as well as the contract between Washington County and Department of State Health Services Vital Statistics Unit for remote birth certificate databases for September 1st through August 31st, 2018. This contract approval means that Washington County will have access to birth certificates from other counties for the next two years.
Commissioners Court approved the reappointment of Judge John Brieden and Commissioner Joy Fuchs to the Brazos Valley Council of Governments Board of Directors. Randy Wells, Jody Schulze, Paul Aschenbeck, and Donna Gomez were all reappointed to the Council of Governments Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. Chief Craig Goodman will take the place of Trey Gully and Donna Damon is a new appointment to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.
