MILL CREEK HALL OPEN TO BLINN STUDENTS

The newest addition to the Blinn-Brenham campus was opened to students today (Friday).

Mill Creek Hall, the 464-bed student housing facility, was officially opened today, in time for the fall semester.

The facility, according to Blinn College Chancellor Dr. Mary Hensley, features all the comforts of home, along with the latest and greatest technology.  She thanked the Blinn Board of Trustees for their efforts, and maintained that no taxpayer dollars were used to fund the building of the new facility.

The hall features a common area, four study rooms, four student lounges, four seating areas, a vending area, a laundry room with 16 washers and dryers, two 3D-printer rooms, and two technology classrooms.

Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Services John Turner addresses the crowd at Friday's Mill Creek Hall opening. Turner said the hall has already filled its housing capacity.

Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Services John Turner said the hall is “more than just brick and mortar, but a living embodiment of Blinn and Brenham.”  He also said the new facility is completely occupied, with over 300 on a wait list.

Blinn Board Chair Charles Moser said the new building is “an innovative step” that benefits the district for years to come.

Senator Lois Kolkhorst also spoke, listing the economic benefits of the new addition.  She stressed the importance of Blinn’s continued growth.

Brenham Mayor Milton Tate also spoke at the gathering, expressing support for the new building as well as the city’s commitment to Blinn College.

  1. I am constantly amazed at how society is pampering the generation now in upper education. I wonder how many of these kids are racking up a student loan instead of working and going to school. That is the way I could afford Blinn. I actually was the driver for the Blinn Bus from Giddings everyday; to help pay for my college. .

  2. This is great. We even get a fifty/two inch tv with full internet and cable tv access. It is more like a resort than a college dorm. The only thing we should have is a swimming pool or hot tub to help releive our college learning stress.
