NAVASOTA BUSINESS CITED BY OSHA

A Navasota business has received seven citations from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Thomas Moore Feed is accused of putting its employees in danger for the third time in past five years.

According to KBTX-TV, the Navasota company has been fined more than $60,000 in violations following a visit by federal inspectors last November.

OSHA, says two of those violations are considered serious. Three are repeat offenses and two classified as "other."

The seven citations say the company put employees at risk of fall hazards, electrical hazards and exposed them to life-threatening work conditions.

Back in August, an employee had the tip of his finger cut off. OSHA says the company did not immediately report it.

Matt Moore, owner of Thomas Moore Feed, says it wasn't reported because there was a new law they didn't know about.

According to KBTX, in 2017 the business was ordered by OSHA to pay nearly $46,000 for eight violations, which Moore said were "totally false."

In response to this new penalties, Moore said the company is committed to the safety of its employees.

In 2014, the company was issued 18 violations and had to pay more than $34,000 in penalties.
