AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD TO DISCUSS LEASE AGREEMENT FOR TERMINAL BUILDING

The Brenham Airport Advisory Board will meet this (Tuesday) afternoon to potentially sign off on a lease agreement with Aviators Plus, LLC.

In August, Southern Flyer cancelled its Fixed Base Operator (FBO) contract with the city and vacated the terminal building.  Aviators Plus was given the first opportunity to occupy the building, per its current agreement with the city, and the board will discuss the terms of a lease agreement for the facility.

The initial term of the proposed lease will be for ten years and will require the lessee to pay $2,500 annually for the first five years, with an increase of $300 automatically at the five-year mark.  Additionally, the lessee would agree to donate $2,000 annually to the city for landscaping and entrance improvements, along with airside maintenance such as pavement markings.

The lease agreement would also require Aviators Plus to open a restaurant within 270 days of the contract’s execution.  The restaurant may be subleased with the city’s written approval, and it must be open at least four days a week for eight hours a day.

The board will also consider a revised FBO agreement with Aviators Plus.  Proposed changes include changing the end date of the initial agreement from 2029 to 2031, allowing Aviators Plus to charge service fees, and adding flexibility regarding operation hours around holidays and heavy or slow air traffic seasons.

The board will meet this afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at the Brenham Municipal Airport.
