SUSPECT IN HUMAN SMUGGLING CASE ARRESTED IN LEE CO.
A suspect wanted by federal authorities for human smuggling was arrested last week in Lee County.

18-year-old Gabriel Valero, whose last known address was listed in Amarillo, was taken into custody without incident last Thursday by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at the Buc-ee’s convenience store in Giddings.
According to Lee County Sheriff Casey Goetz, Valero was sought on two felony murder warrants in connection with human smuggling charges. The sheriff’s office, with assistance from federal agents, determined that Valero was living in the Giddings area.
While details of the human smuggling incident were not available, Goetz believes the murder charges are directly linked to two victims who died while being smuggled into the United States.
Valero remains in the Lee County Jail on the two murder warrants without bond.
