Parker said ever since Ha joined the department in September 2020, he has routinely gone “above and beyond.”

Ha was also recognized in November with a Life Saving Award after rescuing several suspects from a car which became submerged after crashing into a creek while fleeing from Ha during a pursuit on Highway 290.

Parker also presented two chief’s commendations to Sergeant Seth Klehm and Investigator Kevin Mertz.  The commendations are in recognition of their investigative work into a child abuse case where the suspect fled the state in the middle of the investigation.  Parker said Klehm and Mertz worked with other investigating agencies and organizations to locate and bring the suspect back to Washington County.

Due to the nature of the case, Parker could not share further details, but he said he is proud of Klehm and Mertz for “exceptional service to the City of Brenham and its citizens.”
