WASHINGTON CO. SPELLING BEE TO BE HELD FEB. 8
Students around Washington County are preparing to compete to be named the best speller in the county.
The 66th Washington County Spelling Bee will be held Tuesday, February 8th at 6 p.m. at Alton Elementary School.
The winner of the Washington County Spelling Bee will advance to the Houston Public Media Spelling Bee in March.
Last year, no countywide spelling bee was held in an effort to help protect students from COVID-19 exposure. Instead, spelling bee champions were named at each school and participated in an online spelling test to determine who would move to the next round of competition.
KWHI has been a sponsor of the spelling bee since its inception in 1955, and has provided cash prizes to the top three spellers at the event each year.
This year’s spelling bee participants include:
Alton Elementary:
