A DRIVER TRYING TO FLEE A SHERIFF’S DEPUTY ENDS UP IN THE HOSPITAL

A driver was hospitalized after trying to outrun a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy during the early morning hours on Friday.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, around 1:15am Deputy Dustin Kieschnick was attempting to stop a white Infiniti passenger car on Highway 71 near FM 955 for an equipment violation.

The vehicle initially stopped, but as Kieschnick was getting out of his patrol vehicle, the driver took off again.

A pursuit followed with the vehicles heading west on Highway 71, before the suspect’s car crashed near the intersection with Loop 220.

The driver, who was also the sole occupant of the Infiniti, was taken to an Austin hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Kieschnick was assisted on the case by Sgt. Ben Wilson and Deputies Seth Nagel and A.J. Gonzales from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the La Grange Police Department, and the Fayette County EMS.
