The 5th Annual Butcher’s Ball is coming to the Rockin’ Star Ranch in Brenham this weekend.

The Butcher’s Ball brings together Texas’ most talented chefs, butchers, ranchers, and advocates for a day of demonstrations, discussions, tastings, and competition to shine a light on the small, independent farms and ranches actively engaging in sustainability.

This year, they are raising funds for the Houston-based non-profit Urban Harvest and their ongoing community garden programming, farmers markets, gardening classes, and youth education.

The event begins on Saturday night from 5-9pm with the Butcher’s Ball Farm-to-Table Dinner.  Twelve of Texas’ most acclaimed chefs collaborate on a five-course dinner featuring locally sourced ingredients from the state’s best farms and ranches.

One of the participating chefs is Cullen Holle from Country Sunshine in Brenham. He will be joined by chefs from other Texas cities such as Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and College Station.

The evening also includes a cocktail hour, a sunset hay ride, and live music. Seating for the Farm-to-Table Dinner is limited to 100 guests.

Then on Sunday from noon-6pm, they will have the Golden Cleaver Competition in which twenty of the best chefs in Texas battle for the best bite of the day and the chance at the coveted Golden Cleaver and cash prize.

Other activities include panel discussions, butchery demonstrations, classes & workshops, a farmer’s market, live music, and they will be offering craft beer and cocktails.
