BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL LEARNS ABOUT ONLINE VENDOR REGISTRATION FOR FARMERS MARKETS, TICKET SALES FOR SUMMER SIP & ART WALK

  

Brenham Main Street Manager Leigh Linden presented information to city councilmembers on Thursday about a new online registration portal for downtown farmers market vendors and ticket sales for the Summer Sip and Art Walk next weekend.

Linden said the vendor portal is linked through the city’s website and allows potential participants to fill out their business’ name, describe what they sell, and put in any accompanying logos or photos.  The process is vetted by Main Street, who determines if the seller is legitimate and either accepts, denies or puts the business on a wait list.  Vendors are able to pay for the most current market and for ones in future months.

Speaking on the event in general, Linden said she desires to offer more produce and items that fit a “farmers” market.

Approximately 46 vendors registered for the June market and, according to Linden, feedback on the new system has been positive thus far.  Linden noted that the vendor registration fee was increased from $15 to $25 to bring the rate more in line with what is seen around the area.

Linden then shifted to discuss the Summer Sip and Art Walk in downtown next Saturday, June 10^th.  As of Thursday, an estimated 200 tickets have been sold of 500 available, but she said many people wait until the week of the event to purchase their tickets.

Linden said she is focusing on drawing in out-of-towners to tour Brenham and enjoy the city.

Tickets for the Summer Sip and Art Walk are $25 in participating stores, $30 online at www.downtownbrenham.com and $35 the day of the event.  Starting on Sunday, in-person tickets will only be sold at the Brenham Washington County Visitor Center, but online sales will remain available.
