WASHINGTON COUNTY 11 YEAR OLDS BEAT COLLEGE STATION 10-0

The Washington County 11 Year Old All Stars defeated College Station 10-0 in last (Sunday) night's Section 1 Tournament opener. The game was called after four innings due to the mercy rule.

Will Hefferly was on his game. He pitched four shutout innings, allowing only two hits, one walk, and striking out five to get the win.

Washington County jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. Jackson Burch was hit by a pitch, and end up at third base after a couple of wild pitches. Hunter Knesek brought him home with an RBI double. Tyler Hecker followed with a single to put two runners aboard. Hudson Frank and Austin Smith followed with back-to-back RBI singles to scored Knesek and Hecker. Later in the inning, Hefferly hit an RBI double that scored Smith.

In the second inning, Ayden Cunningham was hit by a pitch and Blaine Carmeans singled. They both scored in the inning on wild pitches to make it 6-0 Washington County.

Jackson Burch led off the third inning by getting hit by a pitch for the second time in the game. After two more wild pitches, he scored on a RBI groundout by Levi Duran. Then, Knesek picked up his second hit. He would later score on an RBI double by Hecker. Frank followed by driving in Hecker on an RBI groundout to make it 9-0.

Washington County finished it off with one last run in the bottom of the fourth. Callen Schulte had a one out single. Cunningham courtesy ran for him, and scored on an RBI single by Carmeans to seal the win.

The game lasted just one hour and two minutes.

Washington County moves on to face either Lufkin in a winner's bracket game tonight (Monday) at 8pm in Austin. Lufkin defeated Northwest 9-1 last (Sunday) night.
