CUBS ROMP TO A 42-7 WIN OVER LAMAR CONSOLIDATED

The Brenham Cub Football Team scored early and often as they cruised to a 42-7 win the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs on Friday night at Traylor Stadium in Rosenberg.

Jakoby Dixon picked up right he left off last week by scoring on a 22-yard touchdown run on the game's opening drive. Freshman kicker Bleu Cienega added the extra point to give the Cubs an early 7-0 lead just 65 seconds into the game.

Jaylon Ward followed with an eight-yard touchdown run that increased the Brenham lead to 14-0 with 5:56 left in the first quarter.

Jordan Harvey would break then loose for a 74-yard touchdown run and that made it 21-0 Cubs at the 2:12 mark.

Ward scored his second touchdown of the quarter on a 66-yard run as time expired, and after the first quarter, Brenham was in front 28-0.

In the second quarter, the Cubs were pinned back to their eight-yard line. They didn't stay there long as Harvey threw a bomb to Chris Guidry, and he raced 92 yards to the end zone to put Brenham ahead 35-0 with 7:56 left in the half.

Brenham would get one final score as Cade Moore recovered a Mustang fumble in the end zone for another Cub touchdown. That made it 42-0 at half time.

Due to Lamar Consolidated not having enough players to field a JV team this season, the Cubs brought several JV players with them, and with the score being lop-sided they were able to get their first "Friday Night Lights" experience.

Lamar Consolidated got their only touchdown in the third quarter, but the game was well out of reach by then.

Brenham improves to 4-3 on the season and 2-1 in district play. Next up, the Cubs are back at home to face Rudder in the annual Homecoming Game on Friday night at 7:30pm. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 7pm.
