ONE KILLED, TWO HURT IN GRIMES CO. CRASH

  

One person was killed and two others were injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday morning in Grimes County. 

The accident happened at 9 a.m. on Highway 105 near County Road 417, east of Navasota.

According to DPS, a 2016 Nissan Rogue and 2024 Hyundai Palisade were traveling westbound on the highway, when the Nissan crossed the center line and began driving into oncoming traffic.  The Nissan then struck an eastbound 2001 Kenworth 18-wheeler head-on before being hit again by the Hyundai.

The driver of the Nissan, 53-year-old Qinglei Li of College Station, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kenworth was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in College Station, while the driver of the Hyundai was taken to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan.  Both of their injuries were believed to be minor.

DPS says its investigation into the crash is ongoing.
