HIGH SPEED CHASE LEADS TO ARREST FOR IOLA MAN
An Iola man that led local law enforcement on a high-speed chase from Grimes County into Brazos County was arrested early this (Wednesday) morning.
On Tuesday night, the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office received information that John Victor May, who was wanted for two felony warrants, was driving a grey Kia Sorrento in the area.
At 11:50pm, a deputy located the Sorrento in the vicinity of County Road 172 near County Road 175.
The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop for speeding, but the driver kept going on Highway 30 into Brazos County.
Several attempts were made to deploy stop sticks tire deflation devices, but the vehicle managed to avoid them.
The chase continued all over Bryan and into College Station.
The driver, who was positively identified as May called the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office while trying to evade arrest, and told them that was armed with a pistol, and would shoot any law enforcement that got too close.
Multiple law enforcement agencies redeployed the stop sticks on University Drive at Highway 6, and had a successful hit on the Sorrento.
May’s vehicle finally came to a stop in a wooded area near Oakmont Circle and University Drive.
After a brief standoff, May surrendered, and was arrested without further incident. He was taken to the Grimes County Jail on charges of Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Items less than 50, and two warrants for Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
