JILLIAN WILKE NAMED PRINCIPAL OF BRENHAM JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL; SARAH COOK TO BECOME PRINCIPAL AT KRAUSE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Several changes to campus administration were made official during Monday’s Brenham School Board meeting.
During his monthly report, Superintendent Clay Gillentine announced that Jillian Wilke, who has most recently served as principal at Krause Elementary School, is now moving to the principal position at Brenham Junior High School. The role previously belonged to Michael Watts, who was named last month as the new principal at Brenham High School.
Joining Wilke as assistant principals will be Allan Colvin and Aaron Smithers.
Filling the principal’s opening at Krause Elementary School will be Sarah Cook, who had previously been the dean of instruction at Brenham High School. Gillentine said the times called for the district to absorb the dean position.
Later, trustees voted to approve the hire of Brenham Middle School teacher Jamaus Williams as an assistant principal at Brenham High School. Gillentine said Williams was recommended for the position by Watts, and several members of the board who taught Williams spoke glowingly about their experiences with him as a young leader.
Gillentine said the administrative team continues to work on “right-sizing this district” and absorbing where it can to be leaner in operations. He said the district is “very fortunate” to have talent in-house to be able to fill vacancies when they occur.
