WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER SHERIFF’S OFFICE VEHICLE PURCHASES THROUGH STATE GRANTS
Washington County Commissioners will look to authorize several purchases for the sheriff’s office using state grant funding when they meet on Tuesday.
The court will act on the purchase of four Chevrolet Tahoes, related upfitting services and four WatchGuard in-car camera systems, utilizing funds from Senate Bill 22.
Passed during the 88th Texas Legislature, the bill created a grant program to provide financial assistance to eligible sheriff’s offices, constable’s offices, and county and district attorney’s offices. The agencies must serve counties or jurisdictions with fewer than 300,000 people.
Other unrelated purchases to be considered will be subscriptions for TextMyGov community engagement software and OptiMap and OptiDesign broadband software, as well as hardware and software for the Imprivata secure access system.
Quarterly reports will be presented for the Expo and for Engineering and Development Services, while the auditor’s office will give a monthly report.
At the end of the meeting, commissioners will hold a workshop with the county’s strategic planning firm, Strategic Government Resources, to discuss the ongoing strategic planning initiative.
In other business, the court will:
- Vote on an order of appointment for election judges and alternate judge replacements.
- Consider hiring a temporary human resources administrative assistant for a pay rate exceeding the 6 percent allowable amount in accordance with county policy.
- Accept a donation of $3,915 from Bluebonnet Materials, LLC.
- Act on authorizing Washington County to become a member of The GoodBuy purchasing cooperative.
- Consider a final plat for the Maroon Meadows subdivision, consisting of nine lots along Old Phillipsburg Lane in Precinct 2.
- Acknowledge receipt of the district judge’s order certifying the budget of the Washington County Auditor’s Office for Fiscal Year 2026.
- Acknowledge receipt of the district judge’s order relating to the compensation of the official court reporters for Fiscal Year 2026.
- Read a proclamation declaring the month of September as Suicide Prevention Month in Washington County.
- Receive formal notices from Industry Communications for two new service line installations across the county right-of-way of Schoenemann Road in Precinct 4.
Commissioners will follow up their meeting on Tuesday with a budget workshop on Wednesday. Both meetings will begin at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
