BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER FLEET, EDUCATION PURCHASES

The Burton School Board will act on several purchases when it meets on Monday.

Trustees will consider approval to make purchases for the district fleet not to exceed $420,000.  Last month, the board approved a resolution to authorize the issuance of obligations designated as Series 2026 maintenance tax notes for the purpose of funding necessary equipment and infrastructure, including school buses and other approved capital expenditures.

The board will also vote on buying student Chromebooks and approving the purchase of Bluebonnet Materials for K-5 English Language Arts and K-8 Math and Algebra I, with both costs not to exceed $50,000 each.

Other items on Monday will cover the certification of provision of the instructional materials process for the 2026-27 school year, selecting the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Fund as Burton ISD’s property and casualty insurance provider, revising the district’s 2026-27 calendar, and the potential approval of non-Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) operations for child nutrition for next school year.

An executive session will be held to discuss the district’s pending litigation with DSA, Inc. and Circle H Dirt Work and Excavation (Cause No. 38478 in 21st District Court).

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the Burton ISD Cafeteria.
