BRENHAM FIRE MUSEUM TO OPEN ON WEEKENDS

The Brenham Fire Museum will be open to the public on weekends starting this Saturday.
Tours will be offered every Saturday and Sunday through the spring season, as part of the Sunday Funday program put on by the Visit Brenham/Washington County Destination Marketing Organization.
Located at the corner of Market and Alamo Streets in downtown Brenham, the Fire Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday through May, except Easter. Admission is free of charge.
City of Brenham Tourism and Marketing Director Jennifer Eckermann said the Fire Museum “is a community treasure that visitors want to see” and is “the most family-oriented historical attraction in the area.” She said the fire department “was very influential in Brenham’s early development” and established important cultural events that are still celebrated today.
Three fire engines from Brenham’s past are on display, two of which are very rare. Tourists can also learn stories of historical fires, the annual Maifest and Washington County Fair.
Brenham Fire Chief Roger Williams said the fire department is eager to show off its unique fire apparatus and tell visitors about the department’s history, calling the museum “a fun and memorable experience.”
Only Samanthe (the one on the right in the station) is truly rare.
Why? she’s one of three of her kind still in existence in the whole WORLD and the only one fully original. (Engine not converted)
Invader (middle of station) and the Silsbee (horse drawn one) are not as rare. People still do shows with working Silsbee engines.
That’s wonderful!! It’s about time and I hope it goes back to tell the story of when the town of Brenham was burned down in the Civil War to all the amazing things of our wonderful Brenham Fire Department crew ALL have done. Including the wife’s and husband’s and their children who worried and had to do without them while they were taking care of our precious town
