NAVASOTA PARTICIPATING IN “NO SHAVE NOVEMBER”

During the month of November, employees of the City of Navasota, as well as members of the Navasota Police Department, and Navasota Fire Department will be leaving the world of the clean shaven for a good cause.

Members of the City will be participating this month by not shaving during “No Razor November” to raise awareness of the impact of cancer.

Participants taking part in “No Razor November” are encouraged to donate $40 to the cause.

The donation box will be at the Navasota Police Department Records Division located at 200 East McAlpine Street.

This year’s annual event will go to help 5-year-old Gabriel Goode, a hometown cancer fighter and survivor.

On March 28, Gabriel, who is the son of Preston and Brittany Goode, complained of a stomachache and was taken to an urgent care facility.

Doctors discovered he had an 11-centimeter tumor that had ruptured and was bleeding internally.  He was later diagnosed with a rare liver cancer that attacks one in a million children.

Gabriel has undergone several surgeries, chemo, and numerous blood transfusions.  He recently was able to return to school.

Funds raised during “No Razor November” will go assist the Goode family with medical bills.
