CITY OF NAVASOTA WINS TEXAS DOWNTOWN’S PRESIDENT’S AWARD FOR TEXAS BIRTHDAY BASH EVENT
The City of Navasota has won a statewide award from the Texas Downtown Association (TDA).

The city received the 2023 President’s Award for Best Promotion, during the TDA’s annual conference and President’s Awards Gala on October 25th in Nacogdoches. The award was presented to the city for its Texas Birthday Bash, held each year in celebration of Texas Independence Day.
The award for Best Promotion recognizes excellence in creation and execution of downtown or commercial district promotions.
The city was among 114 entries in 11 different categories from communities across the state of Texas. Other finalists for the Best Promotion award were Ennis, Goliad and Nacogdoches.
Accepting the award on behalf of the city was Mayor Bert Miller, Economic Development Director Rayna Teicheira, Development Services Director Lupe Diosdado, and former Marketing & Communications Director Bobbie Lehrmann.
City Manager Jason Weeks said he is very proud of city staff and everyone who has a hand in the event. He said, “It is an honor to receive recognition for an event we love so much and are so passionate about producing for our community.”
