FOUR ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING AT ROAD SIGNS IN AUSTIN COUNTY

  

Four people were arrested by the Austin County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday night after learning that firearms and alcohol don’t mix.

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Tiemann Road and Highway 159 West after receiving reports of several subjects shooting firearms at road signs.

A Bellville Police Officer located the suspect’s vehicle in the 5000 block of Highway 159 West. Several firearms were also located in the vehicle along with open alcohol containers.                                                                                                                            

Arrested were 18-year-old Asher James, 20-year-old Ronald Branter, 21-year-old Roberto Elias, and 21-year-old Elizabeth Kay.

Defendant James was charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct-discharge of a firearm, and on an outstanding warrant for theft of property $30,000-$150,000. Prior to this incident, James was being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office for his role in the theft of some vehicles.

Meanwhile, Defendants Branter and Elias were charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct-discharge of a firearm. Elias also received an additional charge of unlawful carrying of a firearm.

Lastly, Defendant Kay was charged with Public Intoxication.

All four were transported and booked into the Austin County Jail.
